In it, Caldecott-winning author Jane Yolen and her daughter, Heidi Stemple, imagine their readers as co-conspirators, cooks and tellers of tales themselves and share fun facts and anecdotes about the creation of the stories and the history of foods. All the tales have been retold from older versions by the amazingly prolific Jane Yolen, who has been dubbed "North America's Hans Christian Andersen".
