Very well written book, with good biographies of all female astronauts and astronaut candidates up to 2002 - the year the book was published.

It covers with some detail the career of astronauts Judy Resnik and astronaut-teacher Christa MacAuliffe, who died in the Challenger explosion. It doesn't cover the Columbia accident, as it occurred in 2003, after the book publication.

It also covers the 'off-the-record' program to train a woman astronaut during the Mercury program, who could well have been the first woman astronaut if only the decision makers of the time had the courage to take that risk. They didn't, and Valentina Tereshkova entered the History books...

I find the style of writing very rigorous and inspiring, and appealing not only to women but also to men of all ages who are interested in Space Exploration.
