Product Description

Product Description

Dream of color: color that pools, concentrates, merges, speckles, flows, reflects - color that makes a splash. In Handpaint Country, you'll meet hand-dyers who live the dream. Then the designers take over, showing you what to do when you choose a colorway, not just a color. Handpaint Country features designs using yarns from each dyer. Whatever we call them - whether "handpaint" is a process or just a look - we love these yarns. They spark our creativity. May you end this journey with a few new friends, knowing old ones a bit better, confident in what to do with the yarns you love. Dream on...

5.0 out of 5 stars Blissfully inspiring and beautifully produced., 15 Jun 2003

(REAL NAME)
The United States obviously has its share of people who love to dye their own yarns and write patterns for the results. This book takes you visiting many of them in the places where they live, so it's a narrative with photographs as well as a pattern book. At first it might seem off-putting because the patterns are designed for the producers' own wools, but enough information is given for easy substitution in most cases, or adaptation, and in this and similar books the publishers seem to have adopted a convention for accurately giving weights and yardages. It would be a brilliant present for the knitter in your life, or a treat; I love it.
