A remarkable story, very well told. The author was in the thick of the action at international sports car races in the "Golden Age", the days of the GT40, Porsche 917 and Mirage. As an insider, the chief engineer with JW Automotive Engineering, he saw everything that went on, and made an enormous contribution to the team's many successes. This is a simply fascinating story which every fan of sports car racing should read, over and over. It's easy to read, and the technical stuff is interesting without being daunting to the non-technical reader. Entertaining, and very highly recommended.

This book is a very well written account of an important time in sports car history - GT40, Porsche 917 and the Mirages, it takes you behind the scenes to what happens when a small, dedicated team takes on the might of Porsche, Ferrari, Matra etc. John Horsman relives those times and tells of the highs and lows of battling with those giants of sports car racing. One of the great stories in the book is when Horsman transformed the wayward handling of the 917 at a single test session. Along with the fantastic engineering of Porsche it made the 917 into one of the greatest ever sports cars. Lots of technical info abound in the book along with the many stories of the race team. Racing in the Rain gives you a thoroughly absorbing read from start to finish and it will surely become an important reference in years to come.

Easy to read. Hard to put down. It is an autobiography, a text book and an exciting story in one cover.

This, a classic read for those especially interested in the technicality and tactics of Endurance Racing.

John's personal history shows the highs and lows of running a racing team, with a fascinating mix of technical detail and the image of a skilled, dedicated team working with their drivers, preparing the vehicles, overcoming adversity, to win.
