In just over 900 pages Higham provides a reference and statistical history of pretty much every major form of international and national motor racing - F1, F2/F3000, F3, sports cars, USAC/CART/IRL, NASCAR, touring cars, summaries of the major circuits, national championships, drivers, and marques - in short, this is a mighty achievement.

The major races and championships usually have race-by-race results including the first six, pole and fastest lap; lesser series tend to just have race winners documented, and more minor national-level series just have the overall series winners listed. This is a reasonable space compromise, otherwise Higham's 900-odd pages would probably be nearer 9000!

Within the constraints of what can be fitted into one affordable volume and read without a magnifiying glass, this book is magnificent, and belongs on the shelf of all serious racing fans.
