3.0 out of 5 stars Moderately helpful, 13 Feb 2006
I read the reviews, I looked at other books, I decided that this was the book for me...
Six months later, I can say I have used the book but I think I wanted the book more to tell me how to take apart coaster brakes than how to fix a puncture. It is good to start with the basics and work upwards, and this book is all-encompassing, but i dont find it that helpful, it is pitched at a basic level and more for people who want to buy new spare parts for their expensive montain bike than for cheapskate, recycling, diy types like myself. Not that I have found a book that is. 'How to Rock and Roll' by Sam Tracy (AK Press) is pretty good, but even he says don't bother with coaster brake internal mechanisms, just throw the wheel away and get a new one, which is not what I want to hear. Looks like I have to arrange a another masterclass with my bike mechanic friend ...
