Before buying this book, my sex-life was adrift; however, after making this deft purchase, I found my partners and I discovering new facets to one another's darksides and grew to know the path to fulfilling our innermost slating intellectual lusts. I recommend that anyone intending to purchase this fine work should equip themselves with a two-inch belt. I don't know why, they just should.

This book largely adopts a Health and Efficiency approach to the beguilements of le vice anglais. The author assumes that interested novices will consider themselves deviants beyond salvation without her reassurance that it's all good adult fun. But isn't that missing the point? If the private life of a Top (spanker) or Bottom (spankee)appeals, part of the appeal is surely that you are engaged in an illicit, wickedly depraved activity, beyond the pale of the mainstream? Do you really want to consider that your neighbour may be indulging the same proclivities? (Depends on your neighbour, I suppose)
So while this book deals with the practical aspects of this contact sport - cleanliness is next to naughtiness, and so on - it does little to provoke curiosity or enflame the passions. Perhaps that isn't what was intended, but the author is an avowed devotee of the corrective arts, and I would have appreciated a little more evangelical zeal. What's more, the illustrations are rubbish.
