Warren Faidley

Biographical information
The world's only full-time, professional storm chaser, Warren
Faidley is a noted photojournalist. His work has appeared in Life, National
Geographic, and many other publications. A technical consultant and
contributing cinematographer to the motion picture Twister, (a film about
storm chasers) he is a frequent guest on talk shows, news programs
and specials, as an expert on storm chasing and severe weather safety.
Chasing an average of 100 storms annually, he travels throughout
the U.S. pursuing tornadoes, lightning storms, and hurricanes. A long
time resident of Tucson, Arizona, Faidley, 39, is the owner of
Weatherstock News and Photo Agency, a company that specializes in
the marketing of weather images. His weather related businesses
include eight worldwide photographic and cinematography agents and a
U.S. Patent for a special camera mount.
In addition to commercial applications, his work is also used for
scientific, educational, safety and charitable projects, including those of
the American Red Cross and the National Weather Service. During his
chases he often serves as a volunteer severe weather "spotter," by
relaying critical storm information to the National Weather Service and
local Emergency Management agencies.
Faidley received a degree in Journalism from the University of
Arizona. He is the recipient of numerous journalism awards including the
William Randolph Hearst Foundation Journalism Award and several
Associated Press Awards. With Stephen Kramer, he published Lightning,
a children's book on lightning. He began chasing storms full-time in 1988,
when Life Magazine published one of his stunning lightning images and
billed him as a "storm chaser."
