5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, tasty recipes the whole family enjoys!, 19 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This book is well written with clear explanations of the complexities of baking with different ingredients. Probably not the best book for folks with gluten problems as many of the recipes contain some form of wheat, but it's great for those with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance. The recipes work well just as they are written so no experimenting is needed get good results or to make the results palatable to the rest of the family. We needed recipes without dairy, eggs, peanuts, soy, corn, and coconut. This book has been ideal for us. It's full of wonderfully easy recipes for everyday foods that everyone in the family likes! (There are also great special occasion recipes!) Good bread machine recipes for special diets are hard to find and should be treasured.

3.0 out of 5 stars excellent book but only 3 recipes for both gluten AND yeast-, 28 May 1999
By A Customer
I was eager to receive this book becasue I must avoid ALL gluten and ALL yeast --the book has only three recipes that fit this description --not worth the price if you have to avoid both substances--otherwise it's great--good info on bread machines

4.0 out of 5 stars Healthy solutions to food related health problems, 6 May 2004
By Mary M (England) - See all my reviews
The book is exactly what I was looking for - all the receipes I need for a wheat/dairy free diet. The smell of home cooked bread is wonderful but continuing to make it for everyone to eat except me is torture. If you are a UK resident sadly you ARE going to have problems. All the measurements given are American: cups/teaspoons/tablespoons. For anyone who is interested, a British teaspoon is equivalent to 1.5 American. So be careful. I'm currently having difficulty converting the spoon measurements. Cups are no problem. My Panasonic breadmaker (a truly wonderful machine!) came with a measuring cup for liquid, which also has American measurements marked on it. I think it's high time all this measurement malarkey was standardised. I'm not sorry I bought the book but might have had second thoughts if I'd been warned about the little conversion problem. Good luck to anyone in the UK. Perhaps someone could let me know where I can get my hands on a set of American spoons!
