Covering everything from downloading Java to developing for the Internet, the text details the differences between Java and C++ and covers latest version of Java and Microsoft's Visual J+. It defines how to work in containers, communicate between classes and the computer, and define colours within Java. It explains all graphics programming techniques - plotting pixels; drawing lines, circles, and ellipses; creating Bezier and B-spline curves; and interfacing with the server. It shows how to view and upload GIF, JPG, and PCX files and animations. The CD (window 95) contains code from within book and a variety of software demonstrations and utilities.

2.0 out of 5 stars No good for beginners, 30 April 2001
By A Customer
i found this book very useful in some areas, i am not a beginner at programming java, though some of the content i would not recconment as i found it hard to understand! The first 3 chapters are really interesting though you tend to get bored after that and want to go and buy another book. it is great for advanced users!
