The Blue Book of Gun Values is useful not only for the obvious valuations but also for the general information it gives on the guns that it covers - for some reason modern blackpowder guns are omitted but the originals that the modern BP guns are often copied from are included (the modern BP guns are in a companion volume that I am having difficulty in sourcing). The book does cover handguns, rifles and shotguns but they are necessarily of US sales origin (sometimes the same gun is sold in the UK under a different name and hence can be difficult to find). The valuations are also US based but do provide a reasonable basis for UK values. I was unsure whether the book rated a four or a five star rating but leaned towards the five so that's what I opted for in the end. Now that GunMart no longer have a price listing I know of no other source of this information (other than internet searches) - someone is bound to tell me otherwise!
