I have hundreds of cookbooks and have been cooking a long time. This cookbook stands out on my shelf. I could never make a really good stir fry until Leslie explained the steps and possible stir fry combinations to me in her cookbook. She also has excellent recipes for sometimes difficult to find vegan,wheatless and sugarless recipes. I love this cookbook.

There are some excellent recipes in this book - especially for dairy and egg-free desserts and baking. However, the description is somewhat misleading as it is not a vegetarian/vegan book - it contains a chapter on fish cookery. Also, although the cover description says 'wheat-free', some recipes do contain wheat. Many other recipes use teff flour, which as far as I know is not available in the UK. Nonetheless, if, like me, you are a vegetarian-and-fish eater who enjoys healthy eating and avoids dairy and eggs, this is definitely the book for you.

While on the whole I think this book has a lot to commend it, I am deeply disturbed to see it recommended for vegetarians and vegans, as it has a chapter on cooking fish. To my mind a dead fish is just as dead as a sheep or a pig or a calf. Fish are not vegetables, and I really, really, hate seeing them included in a vegetarian/vegan recipe book.
