Synopsis

The book gives an introduction on how to use a divination tool and also informs the reader about Tibetan Buddhism, the wisdom of gemstones and how to use that knowledge for healing purposes.

From the Author

Jewels of the Lotus: Tibetan Gemstone Oracle
Welcome beloved radiant jewels to the Jewels of the Lotus. Thank you for popping in to check it out. I am the author, Dawn Silver, a lover of crystals from the beginning of time. "The Jewels" are divination cards offering wisdom and guidance from the gemstone realms and your yogic centers of consciousness, the seven main chakras. There are 45 cards, each richly symbolic and a key for personal guidance and healing. Divided into 5 main suits, each suit corresponds to the five basic elements of life - earth, water, fire, air and ether. Within a suit there are eight cards, beautiful crystals above a colorful lotus, representing the energies expressed in each of the seven main chakras , with two cards for the heart chakra. This reflects the polarities of the heart in finding your divine complement, your soulmate. Besides the five basic suits there are the cards of the five skandhas, jewels reflecting the bijas (seeds of consciousness) of the Tibetan path of mindfulness. Each of the 5 skandha jewels floats atop one of the 5 Platonic solids, the sacred geometry forming the constructs of all creation. It's not complicated at all. The jeweled cards are simple to read - you may ask a question, pick a card and turn to the page of it's description. There I explain the nature and healing properties, an affirmation and the divine wisdom of each jewel. Therein lies a special message for your query, apearl of wisdom and healing. For a more in depth look at your question at hand please turn the chapter of Jeweled Layouts. Illuminating Tibetan and other ancient cultural wisdom, there are specific layouts such as the Three Jewels of Enlightenment; for diving your sacred path, the Medicine Buddha; for divining your health; the Windhorse of Fortune; for the nature of your prosperity, the Tantra of Ruby; the soulmate layout and many more. My dear friend and artist, Pat Gullett, painted the back of each card with the enfolded lotus blossom, the pregnant womb holding the treasures of all possibilities against the indigo field of the limitless universe. Above the lotus, painted in gold, is the sacred Tibetan mantra Om Mani Padme Hum which literally translates as Om! The Jewel in the Lotus! Hum! Years ago, upon first hearing this sacred mantra, I was ecstatically clear that it fully represented the work I set out to create. The book will further guide you on the path of crystal healing including a chapter on Gems as Medicine that describes ayurvedic and anthroposophic healing as well. I hope everyone has a happy, healthy and prosperous "99". Though there are enormous global changes before us, just hang in there. We chose to be here at this time to usher in the light. Glow with the flow. And remember the message of the crystal rose quartz, with are all one in the eyes of our Mother/Father God, none above another, equally we are loved. Peace be with you, Dawn Silver, D.N.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Enthralling In Depth Study Of Crystals...Beautiful, 8 Jan 1999
By A Customer
I was very pleased to recieve this Tarot as a gift and I have been using it ever since.I read tarot quite a bit and am absolutely thrilled to come across a tarot deck that combines crystals and Buddhism. I am not a particularly interested in Buddhism, but after reading the booklet I have come across many insightful "gems" and a new appreciation for Buddhism.I am now much more knowledgable about the properties of crystals and minerals. I highly recommend this deck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Insightful, Very Unique and Amazingly Accurate, 4 Jan 1999
By A Customer
"Jewels Of The Lotus" is one of the finest and most unique of the decks I've seen on the market today. The cards are beautifully styled and the booklet with meanings of each stone was put together with care and precision. Each card has a gemstone centered on it and is surrounded by beautiful colored drawings which have different meanings for each card. I found this style of artwork by Pat Gullet to be colorful and quite appealing. Even with all that going for it wouldn't be as powerful without the accuracy this deck brings to light. I found that Dawn Silver's explanations into the meanings of each card is a very insightful. EVERY reading I do with these cards tells me exactly what is needed for my situation. I sometimes find a one-card reading is all I need to make sense of something in which I need guidance. This makes it more "user-friendly" than a regular tarot deck. This deck goes beyond an average reading. Within the write-up for each stone Ms. Silver also included a section for what each stone can do to improve your health. Each of the many parts of the "Jewels Of The Lotus" including the concept of the gemstone oracle, the artwork, the explanations and the insights to everyday living make this one of the most beautiful and unique sets available today.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic instruction booklet, poorly designed tarot deck., 25 Dec 1998
By A Customer
"Jewels fo the Lotus: The Tibeten Gemstone Oracle" is a failed marriage between a brilliant writer and an erstwhile artist. To those unfamiliar with Buddhist philosophy the instruction booklet can be a bit confusing, and overall this is not a deck for beginners. In reviewing the tarot deck and book, there is no question that the instruction book outclasses the deck. First, the gemstone cards are oversized, making shuffling difficult. Second, the artwork of Pat Gullett overpowers the stone of the card. Her pastel art evokes no images in the tarot reader and adds nothing to the power of the stone being pictured. Finally, the print on the cards is in what appears to be golden Sanskrit. However, after deciphering, it is actually in English but very difficult to read.. The gemstone is not the star of the cards as it should be; the artwork attempts to be, but is not. In comparison to other gemstone decks (see Crystal Journey Cards, Jane Ann Dow and Crystal Ally Cards, Naisha Ahsian) this deck falls far short of being a 'gem.' The instruction booklet is by far the celebrity of the duo. The writing of Ms. Silver takes the reader into and through a personal labor of love and sharing. Her blending of Estern philosophy with the Western re-experience of the "new age" is both well-explained and timely. Her suggestions for card layouts are outstanding, and may even be applied with success with other tarot divination decks. Unfortunately, she has chosen the wrong artist to compliment her strong writing style.
