4.0 out of 5 stars Pumping insulin, 29 Aug 2002
Using an insulin pump is relatively straightforward, but still a daunting undertaking at the beginning. This book is written in asimple, logical style. I felt like a student learning a new subject, which indeed I was. Each chapter explains every step to setting up and using the pump, to refining your settings and troubleshooting. The process is further enhanced by the worksheets in each chapter for you to calculate you own figures, i.e how to calculate your total daily insulin dose. Armed with the first calculations you are then in the best position to proceed to the next chapter. Each step of the way is clearly laid out, making it simple to follow. The authors really have tried to cover everything you need to know.

This book is also an extremely useful resource for those already pumping who wish to review their position. Existing pumpers will find plenty to enable them to refresh their knowledge and to reassess their insulin regime.

It is a pleasure to find someone who, although extremely knowledgable on their subject, has the skill and ability to relate to a learner. For anyone using a pump, either for the first timer or the more experienced user, this is the book to have by your side.
