3.0 out of 5 stars Birds of South-east Arizona, 9 Aug 2008
By Mr. H. Bickerstaff "HarryB" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Took this book to South-east Arizona this year (2008) and quickly found that the author doesn't know much about maps. We kept getting lost and found one of the better sites completely by accident and application of basic geography. The only reason we knew we were in the wrong place was because he described a ridge as being immediately behind the site. We eventually bought the latest guide book by Tucson Audubon Society (7th edition) with a foreword by Ken Kaufman in the small town of Patagonia. The difference was like that between night and day and we never looked at the other book again throughout the trip. Better than nothing, obviously. but not worth buying now that it has been superceded by the later book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where, what and when. THE book for birding SE Arizona!, 5 Jan 1999
By A Customer
This is a great resource for planning and executing a birding expedition to southeast Arizona. Excellent maps, detailed species accounts, and helpful directions and resource listings. This book tells you what specialties to look for at specific locations and when they are most likely to be found there. A great guide for birding southeast Arizona, from roadside birding to backcountry hiking. I especially appreciate the tear out maps of trails and inside cover maps of locations and ecoregions.
