5.0 out of 5 stars A great book - it does not leave my site!!!, 27 Jun 2001
By unneva@yahoo.com (Reykjavik, Iceland) - See all my reviews
Anyone who has read Paula's books (the Beauty Bible and Don't go shopping cosmetics with out me) will love this book too. Paula explains the best ways to care for your hair with minimal costs and types of hair. She also explplains the chemistry behind haircare products and it's affects on human hair. If you want to buy a haircare product you can propably look it up in this book and Paula will tell you wheather it is good or not and if it does what is promised on the label. The book is written in an understandable way (even for a foreigner who does not speak good English). I give Paula an A+ for this books and all her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars One-stop shop for all hair questions, 29 Jun 2006
By ಠ_ಠ (London) - See all my reviews

Anyone who has read other books by Paula Begoun will most certainly know what to expect - in-depth, objective information that you can trust on all things haircare: what really works and what doesn't, and why; what exactly each ingredient's role is, etc. written in plain English. It sets out recommendations for day-to-day haircare as well as dealing with some specific common problems. While it doesn't seem like rocket science, it really helps to get this information in a structured way. Personally, I have found very helpful tips for myself, and have adjusted my choices in products as a result. Most of the hyped haircare products and their made-up ingredient names advertised on TV just make me smile! The only downside is that, for obvious reasons, not all of the products reviewed are available in the UK, and also I found the animal testing information slightly conflicting with other sources. Still, 5 stars, because I do not know of any other equivalent book available that does what it says on the tin in a similar way.
