Product Description

Product Description
People watching is as old as the human race. Beginning as a survival function - watching for signals of friend or foe - people watching now provides a wealth of information about the world around us and the creatures that inhabit it. Dr Wolfgang shows us how to sharpen our people watching skills and explores the degree to which culture influences what and how we see.

From the Publisher
Getting more from what we do all the time
Dr. Wolfgang starts with the basic proposition that our lives can be enhanced simply by developing our understanding and improving our practice of the people watching we do all the time. He takes the reader through the process of observing people in common human activities and advises us on how to sharpen our people-watching skills. He also offers tests and assessment tools to measure or enhance these skills.

Next, the book focuses on people watching across cultures. The author emphasizes the significance of nonverbal behavior in cross-cultural interaction, explores the degree to which culture affects people watching, and explains how developing your people-watching skills can contribute to your ability to function effectively in other cultural contexts.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointing, 8 May 2003
By A Customer
I was hoping for more information out this book, but did not get it. The author uses a relatively small number of annecdotes to support his points, sadly leaving little of real use. There are a couple of entertaining questionaires, but for the most part this is not so much a guide to peoplewatching as the author's exposition of how much he likes peoplewatching.

If you are looking for a book on how to interperate what you see while peoplewatching, you would probably be better reading the works of Desmond Morris

4.0 out of 5 stars It's..., 23 Jun 2003
...not the best book on the subject on lies but it is however a compelling read. Througout the 90 pages, which seems a small amount but it's not, Aaron Wolfgang writes in such a way that you have to keep reading.

From it's insight into the basic vibes we get from people to the more in-depth understanding of how we work.

I enjoyed reading this book as it brought many thoughts to mind about how you interact with others, it's a book that really makes you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best guides available to people watching, 24 Oct 2007
By N. Paterson "lecturer" (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a serious but readable book on people watching. It avoids voyeurism and ideology. It carefully encourages the reader to become much more observant, with some valuable approaches and methods given. It does not short-circuit the topic by telling the reader what s/he will see when this has been achieved.
