2.0 out of 5 stars This book is only for the absolute beginner adult teacher, 30 Aug 2004
This book would have been helpful before I started work in this field so I would encourage readers with no prior background in adult education to consider it.
Unfortunately there is no new information for more experienced teachers in training. I bought this book as an addition to my book list for the 7407 FE teacher training course and I have acquired no new knowledge or skills from it's content.

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical, useful guide, 10 Feb 2004
As a primary school teacher just about to embark on what is to me the daunting task of teaching groups of adults, I found this guide both practical and accessible to use. The books approach is friendly and reassuring, and is full of practical tips. Easy to read and well divided into sections, it recommends a visual style of presentation, and stresses the need to grab your audience's attention and hold it -- just what I want to do! A must read for the new adult educator.

4.0 out of 5 stars ok, 20 May 2005

If you take away the "look at me I am so great" part of the author's writing, this book is fun reading. It features a number of useful hints for instructors, but I was expecting more practical info (like on how to deal with the difficult people). Still, it is a difficult subject with no magic recipe, so this book is ok.
