4.0 out of 5 stars A penetrating analysis of outdoor education philosophy, 13 Oct 2000
Harold Drasdo's extended essay on the philosophy of outdoor education was first published nearly 30 years ago. It was highly influential in the debates about outdoor training around that time, but the cool clarity and force of his arguments amply justify its re-publication. Although Drasdo's prime focus is on the use of the countryside in outdoor education, anyone with a critical interest in the underpinning philosophy of outdoor recreation will find much food for thought in this succinct but wide-ranging and lucidly written review.

4.0 out of 5 stars A photocopy?, 28 May 2009
I thoroughly agree with all the sentiments of the first reviewer - and would simply add that when I ordered this from a marketplace source, I actually got an unbound photocopy of the 1998 reprint. This was fine for me as I'm more interested in the contents than the shelf appearance - but it might come as a bit of a shock to the unprepared.
