4.0 out of 5 stars Personal quest, 19 Jun 2009

To any fan of the Wednesdays, this is a great book. The early history is important to me, because my great grandfather played for them, so finding not only a description of his involvement, but a team shot with him standing there, was well worth the money. The early history of the club and leagues is well told and plenty of details, player names and game and cup background makes this a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant early history, 2 Jan 2004
By A Customer
A brilliant book. This is a reproduction of the book which came out in 1926 or 1927. The original is a sort after thing and worth a lot of money. It is a brilliant history of The Wednesday Football Club. And much better than Kieth Farnsworths books. Obviously sparling was contempoary with most of what he writes about and he recieved help from many of the big men from the club as well.
Because of it's age, it reads totally different from any history written today. It has a sympathetic and affectionate edge to it.

I have to say that my five stars are really for the original book. This reproduction is good, but should have been better. We are lucky it has been reproduced though. It's really the pictures that suffer, and are no-where near the quality in the origianl book, which is a shame. Also the format is weird, I have no idea why they changed the proportions, because the origianl was a lovely size and shape.
