Review
Frink (1930-93) was one of the leading and most celebrated British sculptors of the 20th century. She is less well known, however, as an enthusiastic and prolific printmaker, although her work in this field stands as a testament to her artistic career. The medium of printmaking helped Frink expand her range of images, such as birds and animals, and to tackle new areas of narrative illustrations. This catalogue raisonne presents the first full-length study of Frink's printmaking and confirms her position as one of the leading Expressionist printmakers of the century. It places the role that printmaking played in her career into context and locates her work within the wider perspective of 20th-century art. It includes contributions from the printers with whom she worked which provide fascinating insights into the relationship between artist and printer. A celebration of Frink's achievement, this beautifully produced book makes an important contribution to our knowledge of her work. (Kirkus UK)
