Product Description
Book Description
A step-by-step guide to Access. It provides instructions to teach the reader to create their own database, tables, forms, queries and reports and print the data. It covers v97.

Access in easy steps begins with an introduction to the Access screen, toolbars, HELP system and the Office Assistant. The next starts with a guide to database terminology. Then the author describes how to pre-plan a database before teaching the reader how to create a database both manually and using the Database Wizard.

The reader then learns how to create tables, both by automating the process with a wizard and manually. It is explained how to create fields, allocate data types, customise field properties, save the table and export it in third-party formats. Next the reader is taught to create forms manually and also taught how to automate this process with AutoForm and the Form Wizard. Instruction is provided for designing forms, adding and reformatting labels and fields and saving the form design.

The next area covered is working with data. The reader is taught to insert and delete records, 'navigate' the database, and amend existing data. Also covered here is searching for and sorting data, inserting and using hyperlinks and filtering databases. The author then explains how to query a database both with wizards and manually, save a query and open/apply a query. Further areas covered are: creating reports, including Report Wizards, manual creation, amending report design and saving; creating and amending graphs; and finally printing the data.

This book is written in concise language and illustrated with screen shot annotations enabling the reader to verify they have performed each task correctly. It avoids the use of technical jargon, yet covers all the essential features of this database package making this book ideal for both novices and current users alike.
