Richard Knight is an award-winning travel writer: a former Young Travel Writer of the Year. Anyone interested in the roots of jazz and blues will love this book. It's a travel guide to the regions where the music came from - a real bible for the music of America. It's really well written and the maps are outstanding.

This book has been so well researched - even the maps are brilliant! You get a real feel for the places he's talking about. He's been to the bars and venues and conveys such enthusiasm for the music that even a non-fan couldn't fail to be caught up in it. Atmospheric stuff & I can't wait to go.

As well as being a comprehensive travel and music guide, this book provides excellent information about the history of the music of the region. The mapping detail is incredible. A must for all jazz and blues fans. Highly recommended.
