5.0 out of 5 stars Honesty from Lanarkshire, 12 Aug 2002
By Lola (London) - See all my reviews
It's not often a book comes out of Lanarkshire, much less a funny and intelligent autobiography. This book has everything that made Ms Smith's stage shows so hysterical.
There is pain here too, well masked by humour and a sensible attitude.

It was wonderful to read about the making of so many shows that are held in West-of-Scotland hearts. A reminder too, that every performer has the insecurities and family issues that we all face in order to get on in life. We hear politics, feminism, and how showbusiness friendships are made. But it never loses its essence - the earthiness and straighforwardness that give the autobiography such forthright charm.
