Well, what do you say?  Surely this is what poetry is all about - the distillation of experience into intensified emotion.  In this, Mr Blackburn is a master.  From his clumsy teenage fumblings with girls, to his superficial experience of the "low life", to his libellous attacks on his (unnamed) boyhood friends, Mr Blackburn shows the detached interest and professionality of a Victorian lepidopterist.  I'm glad the poet was nowhere near me during the years he describes, but he has at least done us a service in writing about them so graphically. I enjoyed this poetic self-expose (the reference to the famed "job scam" of '73 is particularly amusing), and look forward to the next instalment of Mr Blackburn's odyssey.
