This book is no. 28 in the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust series of publications, and is produced to the exacting standards that one has come to expect from such an auspicious company.

Frank Halford's career spans the years of British engineering genius - he was certainly one of the greatest, if not the greatest engine designer of the last (20th) century, and was involved with cars, motorcycles, and latterly aero engines, notably the Napier Sabre, possibly the finest piston engine produced (R-R may disagree!), and ending with the first de Havilland jet engines, such as the 'Ghost' which powered the 'Comet', the world's first jet airliner in 1952.

In many respects Frank Halford made a unique contribution to British engineering, particularly aero-engineering - this book is a fitting tribute to one of the great engineers of the 20th century, and who helped to move the world forward at an ever-increasing pace. It deserves greater prominence on the bookshelves of motor and aero enthusiasts.
