Product Description

Book Description

Number three in the popular Haunted Liverpool series. Another collection of spooky spectres to make you wonder what is out there. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

From the Inside Flap

This book is about ghosts – whatever they are. Every culture has believed in ghosts at one time or another: Buddha trained himself to overcome fear by sitting in a haunted cemetry. Spooky tales are not just a contemporary phenomenon – there are several ghosts mentioned in the Old Testament.

In the course of a person's lifetime, the chances of encountering a ghost are suprisingly high. Many of the stories within this book originated from the numerous letters and telephone calls Tom Slemen received at Radio Merseyside, where he presented a regular slot on the Billy Butler Show. The tremendous response from listeners is confirmation of a widespread fascination with the paranormal.

Take a spine-chilling journey along Liverpool's streets and meet Spring-Heeled Jack, that Harrington Street visions, Bernie with the broken neck, the Grey Lady of Grove Street and many other spooky characters and ghostly encounters!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book one of the best so far!!!, 18 Aug 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Haunted Liverpool 5 (Paperback)
As a a fan of the supernatural Haunted Liverpool 5 has been the best supernatural book I have read so far even though I like the other brilliant Haunted Liverpool books by tom slemen. This book has got to be the most exciting and the stories, i was that engrossed i read it in two days. Non stop. At work , after dinner, although the story about Mister Bill was a bit frightening i did exactly as Tom Slemen said to do read another storie soon afterwards. The chapter on the baffling babaies was my favourite, reading about the talking babies and also the story about the baby wgho said " why have i come back" was brilliant. I did not like the chapter on time slips on Terryifing Time Slips very interesting although it is nice that things like that can actually happen. My alltime favourites in the book are the chapters Hauntings,Near Death and Outer Body Experiences and Predictions. The best part though is The Witche's Rede which is at the front just before you go into the chapters.

Anyone who buys this book is guaranteed to enjoy this book as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engrossing and scary !, 12 Jun 2002
This review is from: Haunted Liverpool 2 (Paperback)
I have always been skeptical about localised books like this, so it took me a long time to decide wether or not to bother picking this book up. I'm so glad I did !! This is one of the best books I've ever read, I finished it in about 6 hrs, you can't put it down once you start it.

The stories are not so short they leave you wanting more, but also the author doesn't pad the tales out so much they become long winded. Tom Slemen sets the tales in a very matter of fact way, only stating known information and statements from people there at the time of the occurence if it is a recent tale, if an ancient tale, he states this at the start of the story, never adding his own comments or trying to twist the tale. He writes in such a way as to let you make up your own mind.

This book is superb, I urge anyone interested in the supernatural to go out and buy this book, even more so if you happen to be a Liverpool resident. I promise you, you'll never want to put it down!
