Good for marking Progress and Planning
This map, and the "Pennine Way Part 2:North" consists of a single fold out sheet of strip-maps, showing the Pennine Way and a little to ether side. The scale is about the same as the 1:50000 OS maps, and each mile is marked off in distances from Edale. I would not recommend that you used this as a sole aid to navigation, because you would not have to wander far off-track to be off the map. However the maps are excellent for planning, because the "mile marks" mean you can easily space out your stopping places. Also, the markings mean you can mark off progress as you go. My daughter was doing the Pennine Way as a sponsored event, and whenever we stopped for a break she marked the current position, read off the "Miles from Edale" and worked out how much money she had raised. This greatly increased her enjoyment of the walk and added motivation.
