Coffee table paean to concours-quality Goddesses, 12 Nov 1998
By A Customer
If Alan Clark, the Conservative MP, has a redeeming feature it is his enthusiasm for the Citroen DS.He bought his wife the last DS ever made, a blue convertible (built three years after DS production ceased) that features prominently in this thorough book. The Clarkmobile doesn't steal the show, however. DSists will also drool at Len Drew's restored white DSuper5 and a Dutch DS limousine with air-conditioning and a glass partition. The book is full-colour throughout and smacks of quality. If you own, or are thinking of buying a DS/ID, then this book will tell you everything you need to know to restore it to its original specification. But beware: this can be disheartening. I thought I was the proud owner of a 1974 DS23 Pallas. But, according to the book (which has an exhaustive list of chassis numbers), I actually own a 1974 DSuper5 which has been fitted with Pallas interior and exterior trim, a 2.3 litre engine and a semi-automatic gearbox. ... I only hope this excellent book is wrong on this small point.
