Product Description

Review

Though frist published in 1994, this little gem is still a clssic must-have for any VW Bookshelf. At its time it was the first book of its kind on the market, with advice on buying a bus and detailed sections of restoration with step by step guides for rust treatment, panel replacment and prepping and painting as well as an overview of history, spec changes etc. Performance of Mods are also covered and info on engine tuning and lowering is still as informative today as back then. The section on Cal Look ans custom is now a fascinating look back at the scene just a few short years ago. Though fashions and tastes have moved on and other books have updated and expanded ond etails and specs, this book remains a classic. And part of it's appeal now lies in pictures of buses several years ago, amny of which are still going strong! Period photos and brochure shots sit alongside contemporaray photos giving the book a strong visual appeal as well as informative and detailed text. --Volkswagen Camper

Product Description

For owners and prospective owners, this information on Volkswagen's Type 2 Transporter - nicknamed "bus" - in all its many guises - van, pick-up, crewcab pick-up, microbus and camper, from the split-windscreen models made 1945-65, through the bay-window versions of the late 60s and 70s, to the Wedge models made up to 1982, when the classic VW air-cooled engine gave way to conventional water-cooled one. All these vehicles have a huge and devoted following, from surfers with vans to families with campers. This book covers the transporters's origins and history, the different body types, major specification changes, buying, repair and restoration, customizing, Cal-look, graphics and body kits, performance modifications and tuning, and the specialist camper conversions.
