5.0 out of 5 stars A literary approach to developing a positive mental attitude..., 27 Jul 2009
By Claire Richards "Clairabelle" (Right in the middle of the UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is divided into chapters and includes quotations from artists, novelists, poets, journalists, missionaries, philosophers, musicians, psychoanalysts, inventors, teachers, composers, theologians, dramatists, philanthropists, actors, activists, statesmen and even emperors! There are also proverbs of Christian, Buddhist and Jewish origin.

Here are a few examples:

'If people knew how hard I worked to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.'
(Michelangelo, Italian painter and sculptor)

'Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.'
(Albert Einstein, German-born American pysicist)

Here are some of the chapters:

'The power of enthusiasm'
'Cherish your friends'
'Just do it!'
'Face up to fear'
'Genius or hard work?'
'Always be yourself'
'Let nature enlarge your spirit'
'Learn to forgive'
'Grow old - positively'

This book is best opened at random so that you can ponder on one quote at a time. It is also useful for reference when writing messages for blank greetings cards or for those writing speeches or involved in group prayer and non-religious meditation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting....., 4 Oct 2009
If you are an upbeat, pragmatic or resilient person you might think you have no need for this book, but in a shifting world where new challenges are ever present sometimes life takes its toll. We all have coping mechanisms and ways of lifting ourselves in difficult times but when those aren't quite enough this book, with its messages on life and humanity will provide new ways of looking for and finding positives for any situation. In calmer times it will become a friend you will re-visit often and continue to value having in your life.
