5.0 out of 5 stars The only guide you'll need., 24 May 2001

I had 1 week's holiday left, so headed off for Malta with this book. It was fantastic.

Malta has so much to offer and this book is not so large you can't read it without knowing what you want to read first. It helps you find the little, out of the way places as well as the main sites.

Well worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative, but discouraging!, 2 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Malta's history is chequered and fascinating, but this has to be the first guide I've ever read that effectively discouraged me from dragging myself away from poolside and wandering some local streets. It is informative and accurate, allowing you to dip in and out for specific pieces of info, but when reading the town-specific sections and tour suggestions, I was very much struck by an 'oh, don't bother' feeling than one of enthusiasm.

No place is perfect and guides wouldn't be guides if they purported them to be so, but there's a subtle difference between being realistic about destinations and underplaying them completely.
