2.0 out of 5 stars Fair, 22 Sep 2003
This is a good enough tourist guide - if you are staying in the south but is very weak on the north. Updates are urgently required as information is very much out of date by a few years
The Bradt guide on Mozambique is far superior.
I've been to Mozambique three times now and I also recommend a good map.

5.0 out of 5 stars useful and entertaining, 10 April 2003
This is a good source to anyone searching for information on the country. It has a fairly good overview on Mozambique's history, society and economy. Besides, it is a very good tourist guide, with useful and reasonably updated information, very helpfull maps, and some great tips on traveling around, accomodation and restaurants. Having been to the country lately, LP Guide was a very good and useful travelling companion.

4.0 out of 5 stars frustrating, but an essential companion, 21 Aug 2009
By Luke Edwards-stuart - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)

It's impossible to tour Mozambique as a foreigner without some kind of local orientation, context and map, and this book is therefore an essential for all Mozambican travel.

The background information is helpful and the book is great for geting you oriented in new places.

Hotel, restaurant and bar recommendations date quickly, however, and be careful not to let the book completely dominate your decision making - go with a hunch and take random spontaneous opportunities that come your way.

Take this book with you, but bear in mind that Mozambique is a country which rewards the spontaneous, the instinctive and the brave.
