4.0 out of 5 stars A must-have if you are heading off the beaten track, 4 Jul 2002
Very detailed and informative. I unfortunately didn't have this map when I travelled through these countries but wish I had.
While the city maps in the LP guide books are more informative, once outside of the cities this atlas comes into it's own.

The pages are very clear, yet detailed enough to provide all necessary information. I found the LP Laos Guide's map woefully inadequate for 2 months travel in the Laotian countryside whereas this atlas provides all the information I would have needed.

For anyone intending to get off the established backpacker trail in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam this is essential. Planning your trip with these maps in hand will enable you to see the real countryside rather than been drawn into the points of interest that the guidebooks detail.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless, 21 Jun 2004
Do not under any circumstances attempt to navigate using this atlas. It is not at all detailed, and is totally inaccurate. To my knowlege, there is an entire motorway (and not a new one) which is not even shown in this atlas!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor map, 21 April 2002
I found the map to be of little use when in cities, why Lonely Planet have chosen not to add an A - Z index of streets is completely beyond me. Having to study a whole city map to find just one location is labourious, I would not purchase another of LP's maps for this reason. This is a shame because the map is otherwise good quaility. The free maps available at Airports and information centres are easier to use and cost nothing!!
