3.0 out of 5 stars Useful but outdated, 12 Jul 2003
By A Customer
This book is useful as most of the hostels etc. still exist, but be careful when you plan your expenditure; the Kwacha has lost a lot of its value since publication so you would expect things to be cheaper, BUT - the backpacker based hostels have easily become more expensive. Buy the book but look at the Lonely Planet website for updates.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for travellers, 23 Mar 2001

I am going to malawi this year and I bought this book to help me find out about the country and it helped me alot. it tells you about the culture and language. If I was going any where in the world and I needed information on my destination I would buy a lonly planet guide.
