5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Safari Companion..., 2 Feb 2003
This book is excellent if you have a safari planned to any of the national parks in East Africa, mainly concentrating on Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Good photos and short descriptions of the animals and birdlife to be seen as well as general information about the landscape, national parks, maps and some good viewing tips. Very useful particularly for your first safari experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lonely Planet masterpiece, 13 Jan 2005
By A Customer
This book is one of the most useful purchases I have ever made. It was invaluable for planning when to visit East Africa and which parks to go to. In addition, it has an excellent gallery section to help you identify the animals you see. Lonely Planet have clearly done their homework on this one - a perfect book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for all animal lovers, 9 Nov 2001
By A Customer
Up to the usual standard of Lonely planet guides, full of usefull facts about safaris in East Africa. Excellent animal and bird guide for those who are interested enough to care but unwilling to buy a weighty field guide.
A warning though, you'll still need another Kenyan guide beook for the more practical matters, as well as almost anything else you might wish to do in these countries. Theres more to East Africa than animals you know!
