Beautiful pictures and fabulous screenplay!, 29 Dec 2004
Paperback version. Pages: 144I am very pleased with this book. Not only does it contain information on the origional Gaston Leroux novel, but also how the musical version was made. It has lots of interesting facts on the film, including sections on makeup, the music, the cast, set design etc. This book also includes interviews with both Lord Lloyd Webber and Joel Schumacher. At the back of the book is also a copy of the film's screenplay. Giving readers a chance to read the lyrics to the songs and follow the dialogue and actions of the film. Not only this, but it also contains beautiful colour pictures throughout, (including a full page of 'the kiss' between Phantom and Christine, a must for Gerard Butler fans! ;)) Overall, the only things I felt were missing was a section on the process Gerard Butler went through to become the Phantom (makeup, prosthetics. etc) Although considering this, there were pictures of Micheal Crawford being 'made up'. Perhaps this will be on the DVD? I would have also liked to have read what inspired the actors to take part in the film, and their views on production etc. Definately a must for avid fans of the film who can't wait for it to be released on DVD, and for people interested in the 'behind the scenes' info! 3/5
