3.0 out of 5 stars Practical easy to read but not an in depth coverage, 3 Dec 2000
By tbond@classicfm.net (Bournemouth, UK) - See all my reviews
This is a practical book which outlines many of the causes and triggers of eczema. Although this is not an in-depth study of the condition, it is a worthwhile reference, written in a clear concise style and has an approachable feel for the worried parent. There is not too much medical jargon and none of the distressing photographs that characterise some of the more medically oriented references. Maggie Jones offers some insight into alternative therapies for this distressing condition, but does not go into any great details with these. A lot of the material she deals with is covered in more depth by David J Atherton in his book which has the advantage of being written by a medical man who is able to address issues in more depth. Maggie Jones has produced a useful starting point for parents of a child with eczema, but I suspect that it will need to be complemented by more detailed reading.
