5.0 out of 5 stars The truth more facinating than (the catholic) fiction !, 8 Aug 2000
Gardner have delivered a believable and well researched book. Some material have been dealt with by other researchers, but to my knowledge, none with such authority and overall perspective. This is THE book on the subject !

The truth about the real history of Christianity is stranger than fiction, and should open the minds of anyone daring to read this explosive book !

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden History buffs will love it!, 29 Mar 1999
By A Customer
I agree with Garry that there may be an element of propaganda to this book - but it's content and style are gripping! If you want to check up on the material all the references are cited in great detail - a challenge for a history student somewhere! Particularly interesting are the records of an American delegation arriving in the UK after the War of Independence to offer the 'Crown of America' to the Stuarts! This includes reference details from the American Senate! All in all this is a controversial and provocative book that opens up whole new vistas on the history of Western Europe, making it a must-read for anyone prepared to dismiss the majority of Orthodox History as 'bunk'... 2.0 out of 5 stars A work of fiction masquerading as fact, 1 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This is an audacious book that at first can be quiet interesting. But soon it is easily realised that the authors have made no real attempt to research their material, nor is any attempt made to maintain any sense of objectivity or reliability. The section that claims to reveal truth about the real and secret history of Jesus uses only three other works to research from (the Bible being one), but where the authors really show their complete ignorance of history is when we reach the European Dark Age. No historian is capable of putting exact dates to the majority of events in this period simply due to the incredible lack of source material, yet the authors claim the Dark Ages of Europe to be a wholly clear affair that they have an incrediblly accurate and detailed knowledge of ... without useing sources! As a work of fiction only, it can be an interesting and educational book to enliven the imagination with its precise and romanticised claims. But claiming to be a work of fact is wholly dishonest. Not recommended for the historian, but probably one for the firstly imaginative, hence why awarded 2 stars, not 1.
