Product Description

Synopsis

A photographic record by British-based photographer Fi McGhee of John Pawson's conversion of a 17th-century Dutch barn in Essex into a studio and family home. The book documents the five-year process of deconstruction and reconstruction involved with the building's renovation, and charts the way that Pawson's much documented "minimalist" philosophy combined with McGhee's own practical needs as a photographer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not architecture, just a family album, 24 Jun 2001
By A Customer
Although the word architecture is prominently displayed on the cover, this is not architectural. The reconstruction of this barn-house is well photographed but without any plans or architectural information (there is only a minimalist dust speck floor plan in the first pages) It does not even have text save dust cover info and dedication. It is another, albeit well photographed, family photo album made public. You can see the relevant photos in oder architectural publications and the rest are: close up of horse ear and hide and pretty somebody else's kids. I fell into the trap.
