Despite no attempt to update the contents since it was written in 1989, this Esprit title remains a consistent top-seller in its 3rd edition and earns warm praise from Amazon readers on the USA site.

The reason is that it is unique, containing direct information from the engineers that created the long-lived [1975-to date] Lotus supercar.

If you are interested pre-1990 Esprits , this is a great title. Otherwise don't be decieved by the publisher's "The Complete Story" sub-heading.

Quite detailed, (if perhaps a little dry in places), account of Lotus' early years leading up to development of the Esprit, through the ongoing production and enhancement of the model, with some reproductions of magazine reports/roadtests, and plenty of good photographs and illustrations. The book was originally published in 1991, and therefore does not cover later developments of ever wilder versions of the Esprit, such as the V8. Plenty of detail for the enthusiast, but not quite the complete story.
