First Sentence
When I was first approached to write about rowing, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to take on the task of writing an entire book; although I was flattered to be asked, I did not relish the thought of spending many hours in front of a computer screen. Read the first page

4.0 out of 5 stars A good basic text., 2 Jan 2003
By Mr. M. J. Cannon "mjc1000" (Windsor, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Having only started to row at university I needed to advance my understanding rapidly to be able to coach others. Whilst being coached well is the best way to address errors in others, a book like this is invaluable if you are to deal with the more complicated issues involved in coaching such as how to get your athletes to train effectivly.

Other more in depth books are available but are far more hard to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for novices, 23 Dec 2003
By A Customer
This is an excellent book for novices. I bought this when I had just starting rowing at uni and learnt so much from it. However, I think the book tries to cover too many topics and hence doesn't cover any subject in enough detail for experienced rowers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best single text on rowing, 22 Jun 2000
By A Customer
This is the best single text on rowing I have ever seen - if anybody wishes to purchase a rowing book this one should be it. It does not by any means try to cover the whole subject such as some other texts do, but rather concentrates mainly on rowing technique and fitness, and how to improve both. This is discussed quite thoroughly, clearly and informatively and will prove an enormous help to both rowers and coaches at many levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great all-inclusive text.
This book has everything you would want to know if you are, as I am coaching amateur crews and also provides some new things to think about for your own rowing. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and concise. An invaluable read.
This book is a must for all rowers from novice to elite - although novices will take much more from it. It is thorough in detail, covering all aspects of rowing and sculling. Read more
