Product Description

Product Description

Marital and relationship breakdown is rife, with 40% of all marriages in the UK ending in divorce. The emotional fall-out from the trauma of a break-up is incalculable. Most will experience draining emotional negativity: for example, they worry no one else will ever want them; or they can't let go of the their ex and live for the day when he or she realises that it's all a big mistake and comes back. Sometimes they seek revenge and damage themselves more than the person they hope to hurt. Others will sink into a general malaise where all pleasure is lost. Here London-based radio Heart FM's popular relationship counsellor Dr Pam Spurr offers a emotional rescue to help those struggling through a break-up throw off excess negative energy through positive living. Packed with tips and advice plus practical assistance in the form of questionnaires, checklists, dilemmas and strategies, Dr Pam's Break-up Survival Kit tackles the problems of moving on, and offers new directions to allow the broken-hearted to rebuild their lives and act positively.

4.0 out of 5 stars Going to get on with my new life now, thanks Pam!, 16 Jan 2002
By A Customer
I am 29 and currently going through a divorce after 5 years of marriage to my husband and childhood sweetheart from a tender age of 15. I thought it was just me who had these mixed and confused feelings of anger, hate, loneliness, neglect and wanting revenge.

After reading Pam Spurr "The Break up Survival Kit" I now realise that I am not mad or alone. The book is packed with tips and advice on how to be a survivor not a victim. Once I read the first few pages I couldn't put the book down until it was finished.

I guess what I am saying is if I hadn't read Pam's Survival book I would probably be still waiting around for my ex to phone and say, "I miss you and have made a big mistake, can we sort things out".

My outlook on the future is, so what if he does call, I don't want to be with someone who has hurt me so much over the past six months. There is life after divorce and I want someone who loves me for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great, very accesible, fun guide which got me on my feet!, 16 Jan 2002
By A Customer
The cover initially attracted me but little did I know the insightful, practical and positive advice I would find inside! After my break up with Mark I really did feel so lonely, but Dr Pam Spurr really has shown me that I can actually recover from my break up and move on to better things!! I would recommend this to anyone with a broken heart. Good luck, you aren't alone!

5.0 out of 5 stars There's light at the end of tunnel, 5 Nov 2002
By A Customer
I've spent the last six months at the bottom of a black hole after my divorce. I found myself wishing my ex would drop dead I felt so bad. Then someone recommended Dr. Spurr's book and I could see how different things could be for me. The chapter on smoke signals really struck home as I was sending out all these fake messages about feeling great when inside I was miserable. The next chapter on making changes in your life was positively uplifting. I saw how change can be good and I've started using the many tricks to turn my life around. The great thing about this book is how the very positive advice is not stodgy or too worthy but punctuated with humour and Dr. Spurr's own divorce experiences. A real gem for information about surviving your break-up. Thanks for this.
