Superbly written interesting book - highly recommended!, 3 April 2006
Following on from the BBC drama The Virgin Queen, I wanted to see more about her, her life and her times. This book more than satisfied my interest. Whilst I'm not generally into books which relate to history, this book has me hooked! It's packed full of fantastic detailed information about the life of not only Elizabeth 1, but her Royal Court also. A really detailed insight into the running of the Royal Courts and the way in which "traitors" or those who displeased the Queen were treated and despatched. Vivid descriptive writing. Crammed full of facts, yet you feel you are with Elizabeth all the way through. This book is filled with passion, fire and loyalty. This Queen was a very complex lady, much admired, but she ruled her courts with a rod of iron. Easy to read book, hard to put down! Go on - get yourself a copy!

All round, an excellent book!, 3 Jul 1999

Having read more than half-a-dozen previous biographies on Elizabeth 1, I found carolly Erikson's by far the best.Easy to understand and beautifully written, this book not only goes into what Elizabeth was like as a ruler and a person, but delves into relevant aspects of the normal lives of Tudor individuals.

Interesting portrait into the Life of a Queen, 25 April 2003
This book was wonderfully written, and portrayed the life and times of Queen Elizabeth 1. This book was masterfully written and included all the information I needed to write my essay. The only flaw I found was it could have explained more of Elizabath's childhood and younger years, otherwise, it was very wonderful
