Product Description

Product Description
Harking back to the time when yachts were made of wood, this bestselling classic - even more relevant for the Coarse Sailor of the millennium who, in times of crisis, is wont to forget nautical language and shout 'For God's sake, turn left!' - will appeal to all those sailing buffs who mostly find themselves boating around in muck rather than mucking around in boats!

About the Author
Michael Green's books can be considered contemporary classics - his devastating advice on a wide range of activities from acting to Rugby Union has established The Art of Course as part of the language. The series has sold over a million copies around the world, been translated into several languages, and adapted for the stage and television. John Jenson was born in Australia, the son of an artist. He has been the regular political cartoonist for the Sunday Telegraph, and frequently contributed to Punch.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you sail and can laugh, this book was written for you., 17 Aug 2001
By A Customer
If you can relate to anything less than perfect sailing, if you've only tried a Broads hire yacht for a weekend, or if you are a time served salt, you cannot fail to laugh out loud at this refreshed classic. A book which commences a chapter with "In the morning I blew up the boat" refuses to be ignored - and this Michael Green masterpiece will not fail you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic humour from an author worthy of a higher profile, 2 Jan 2000
This book has been a favorite of mine for twenty years. The tale of a disastrous holiday on the Norfolk broads in the 1950s, told with wit and affection, very much in the style of "Three men in a boat". One of many books by Mr Green in "The Art of..." series, several of which seem to be sadly out of print. Read only if you're not ashamed to laugh out loud!

5.0 out of 5 stars So very true, 27 Dec 2008
This is very very funny. It's all the better for being an only slightly exaggerated and condensed account of what sailing in Norfolk is really like. I sailed in Norfolk from the 70s to now. This book is set in the 50s, but is timeless - any 'ditch crawler' will have experienced variations on every incident in the book.
