Product Description

Synopsis
Access 97 is the database of choice for the home and small business user. While its intuitive interface makes data storage and manipulation incredibly simple, you really need its underlying language, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), to make the most use of its features. VBA is the language that unites the whole Office 97 suite, allowing users to exploit the power of each Office application within their environment of choice. VBA allows you to automate and secure your database, so your end-users need never know what goes on underneath. Its simple style allows even complete novices to programming to achieve impressive results with very little effort. This book provides comprehensive coverage of this subject.

About the Author

David Sussman

3.0 out of 5 stars "Beginning....."? I dont think so!, 21 Mar 2002
By A Customer
I was really enjoying this book up until the start of chapter 4 and then the authors just seemed to launch into complicated procedures that left me dead in the water. I'm not a total beginner to VBA but i feel they went too fast too soon. I had high hopes for this book and i'm left feeling rather disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice one, 19 Jul 2000
By A Customer
This book helped me where all the others failed. I was looking for some help with VBA programming in Access. This was the only place I found what I needed, and I had looked in 6-8 other Access books before getting to this one. The examples provided were excellent, and supplied with all the underlying code. This helped to learn-by -example, and actually follow what the code was doing. I will be looking for more Wrox books when I need help with future projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding book to expand your abilities in Access 97, 23 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I had taken a five day class in Access by Executrain and had been working for a few months both before and after that in Access. I was creating some nice databases at work but needed to do more. I bought this book to learn how to use VBA and make more dynamic databases.

This book was everything I had hoped for and more. It is an excellent tutorial and has a perfect match between the book and the sample files on the disk. I tried to learn Access with the "Access 97 Bible" but it had a terrible tutorial and the sample files did not even resemble the book. This book is a must for anyone who wants to create complex, full-feature datbases with great functionality. I have only completed the first six and a half chapters and have learned so much. The text is clear, easy to read, and very well ordered. Despite not having programed basic since my PCjr it was a great reintroduction to programming. It starts off very basic and does not leave you behind.

I could not recommend this book more highly for anyone wanting to program VBA in Access 97.
