Great Reference to HTML!, 20 Dec 2003
When I initially bought this book (some 4 years ago), I wanted an introduction to HTML. I saw this book and bought it. I quickly found out that it wasn't a beginners book ,but a reference book. But I read through it, and using other supplement material, I quickly got the grips of basic HTML.The book is essentially a reference book, and a top class one at that! With chapters containing everything, including tables, forms, framesets, images, linking, as well as introductions to javascript, vbscript, css and other html based scripting languages! The chapters are laid out nicely, with different html tags relating to the subject as titles, with the attributes listed underneath giving a description and sometimes examples. Although maybe a little bit dated now, with the use of XHTML, it is still the book of choice for people using HTML 4 (The majority of html is html 4). The appendices at the back are simply great! There is a css style appendice, html colour codes, javascript functions and references, character codings and lots of other useful stuff. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in html! Maybe not to someone who is brand new to computing, or not familiar with simple internet concepts. I would recommend an alternate for them, but for anyone coming to html from another computing area, or just wanting a great reference book, they should buy this! Overall I am very pleased with this book, and would never consider changing it for another! Totally great HTML reference!
