So, you thought you'd seen and read every book format on rock & roll?

Hacked off by biographies officially and unofficially penned on our rock & roll legends?

Well, here's a new angle for a hackneyed genre; an insider's view with a difference.

It's about the recollections of Alf Weaver, a rock & roll bodyguard to the stars for two and a bit decades.

Weaver worked as a celebrity heavy to stars such as Frank Sinatra, the Beatles and Madonna.

It makes for a neat publishing idea and a good read. And you can see why Weaver's book has been featured on Richard & Judy and by the Daily Mail. His story is expertly written by journalist Robert Ashton.

Rock & roll biographies need bite. This has loads in parts though you put down the book wanting more vitriol.

Weaver's recollections are at times hazy - he's obviously also had a good time over the years.

Having worked for Alf in the late 80's and early 90's I know first hand what the life of a rock and roll bodyguard is like. Alf was the king of kings as far as this business goes and after having read the book I know now just how many big names he worked with. During my time with him I worked with Kylie, Jason Donovan, Status Quo, Bros, Shirley Bassey, Liza Minelli and of course Frank Sinatra plus many more. There is a lot left out of the book and Alf has been very respectful of the people he worked with. Maybe there is a second book on the way dishing the dirt on the celebs he worked with. A great book for the coffee table with some fantastic pictures.
