In depth coverage of Beagles in UK ., 2 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Its earns 4 of its 5 stars for being the only MODERN beagle book covering beagles in the UK to my knowledge. Filled with breed information & innumerable photographs of UK beagles from many kennels. Mainly geared towards the breed standard ,breeding, showing & judging the breed . It also touches on health, the beagle as a pet ,the working beagle , colours of the beagle & the beagle worldwide amongst other subjects. Some entertaining text from the author about his own beagles. Just about anyone who owns a UK beagle is likely to find a photo & information of a beagle in its pedigree in this book. A 'must have' book for every beagle lovers library.

Lavishly Illustrated, 13 Jan 2005
By A Customer
Orginally developed as a scenthound which followed huntsmen on foot, the Beagle has evolved into a popular companion breed. Its stable temperament, convenient size and easily-cared-for coat make it an ideal family dog and smart show ring competitor. In this Book fo the Breed, Andrew Brace looks at the Beagle today on an international basis, and gives a more cosmopolitan view of the breed than any other book previously published. For the first time there is an in-depth analysis of the legendary Ch. Dialynne Gamble, focusing on his influence on bloodlines on both sides of the Atlantic. Comprehensive coverage is given to the whole spectrum of Beagle Ownership, from selecting a puppy, training, showing and health care, to breeding and rearing a litter. For the more serious enthusiast, the chapters on the Breed Standard in both Britain and the US, and judging the breed will prove to be invaluable. The book is lavishly illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs.
