5.0 out of 5 stars A must have guide to Labrador Retreivers, 31 Jan 2001
By A Customer
The Ultimate Labrador retriever by Heather Wiles-Fone is an essential guide to owning a Labrador retriever and a must have for any owner. Every aspect of the dog is examined in detailed chapters providing you with the information you require and more besides covering everything from breed standards to common health problems. Anybody who is contemplating purchasing a Labrador is also well catered for as it gives a good insight into the breed and directions on what to look for when selecting a dog.

Chapters covering using your Labrador as a working gun dog or showing him in the ring give a good insight into these two activities in which you can participate with a Labrador and the training chapter is excellent.

On the downside the author at times sticks to her opinions and fails to see situations from a different perspective, for example She insists a Labrador should live in the family home and will be happy living outside. Several other Labrador books I own can see the benefits of both arguments and agree that the Labrador will be just as happy in either condition. The book also references the United States heavily although this only a minor problem.

In Conclusion this book provides everything you need to know about Labrador retrievers whether you are an experienced dog owner or a novice and is deserving of it's title 'The Ultimate Labrador Retriever'
